Juan Zapaca Inga (1684-1685)
• Was a Peruvian painter.
• An indigenous Cusco-born painter.
• Active in Cusco region, ca. 1684–1685 (late 17th century).
• He is best known from a small group of religious canvases, several works are attributed to him rather than firmly documented, dating around the 1680s and linked to Cuzco and to a series painted for the Franciscan convent in Santiago de Chile (one set is reported signed “Zapaca” and dated 1685).
• Historical records and catalogues use several name variants Zapaca Inga, Zapata Inca, Zapaca, etc.
