Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (1780 – 1867)

• Was a French Neoclassical painter.
• Near the end of his life, he made one of his best-known masterpieces, The Turkish Bath (Louvre).
• Ingres died of pneumonia on 14 January 1867, at the age of eighty-six, in his apartment on the Quai Voltaire in Paris.
• The contents of his studio, including a number of major paintings, over 4000 drawings, and his violin.
• The displayed painting is a crop from: Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Madame Edmond Cave, 1831-34.
