William Hamilton  (1751–1801),

• Was a British painter of decorative and history subjects.
• William Hamilton was born in Chelsea.
• William  was a son of a Scottish assistant to Robert Adam, who sent him as young man to Rome.
• He was first a pupil of Zucchi and trained as an architectural draughtsman.
• He entered RA Schools 1769 as painter.
• William produced pictures for Boydell's Shakespeare Gallery and for Macklin.
• He designed cabinets and stain glass for William Beckford.
• William Hamilton died in London.
