Thomas Francken (born on 1574/1575-c.1625)

• Was a Flemish painter.
• He was born in Antwerp.

• His father was Frans Francken I and Elisabeth Mertens.

• According to RKD Thomas Francken was active in Saint-Omer (Frankrijk) 1598, and in Antwerpen (stad) 1600 - 1610.
• He became master in the Guild of St. Luke in Antwerp in 1600.
• He was Teacher of Mainniaert Fossaert and Ferdinand van Os.

• His brothers were Hieronymus Francken II; Frans Francken II; and Ambrosius Francken II.
• The fact that the same Christian names Francken occurred in three generations of painters who used identical signatures has caused a great deal of confusion in attributing their various works.
