• Was a Swedish painter.
• Dahl painted portraits of aristocracy and royalty such as Anne, Queen of Great Britain, Prince George of Denmark and the exiled Christina, Queen of Sweden.
• Dahl received his first lessons in art the Hungarian-born drawing-master Martin Hannibal, and David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl.
• After 30 July 1682 Dahl went to London.
• Dahl soon came in contact with the man who is probably responsible for the greatest impact on his development, Godfrey Kneller.
• In Kneller's studio, Dahl both studied and made a living.
• Together with a friend, painter Henry Tilson, left for Paris, and Rome, making a stop in Frankfurt, and returned to London in 1689.
• In 1705 Dahl married a young English girl whose name has still not been recovered.
• Together they had a son, Michael, and two daughters, Dorothy and Catherine.
