Pandolfo Reschi (1643–1699)

• Was a Polish painter.
• Born in Gdańsk.
• He came from a wealthy merchant family.
• He moved to Italy when he was young.
• By 1663 he was in Rome.
• He lived in the same house as the Dutch landscape painter Pieter Mulier, known as Cavalier Tempesta.
• During this Roman period he converted to Catholicism.
• Spent most of his artistic career in Italy, especially Florence.
• Pandolfo Reschi became one of the ablest pupils of Giacomo Borgognone.
• He painted battle-pieces and imitated the landscapes of Salvator Rosa.
• He also excelled in painting perspective and architectural views (quadratura).
