James Norie the younger (1711 - 1736)

• His fater was a decorative landscape painter James Norie (1684-1757), and a founder member of the Edinburgh Academy of St Luke, the earliest art academy in the city.
• His brother Robert was also a painter.
• The artist was a friend of the celebrated architect William Adam.
