Cornelis Picolet (1626 - 1679)
• Was a Northern Netherlandish glass painter, painter, and shipmaster.
• Born in Rotterdam.
• Son of Pieter Teunis Picolet and Trijntje Cornelis.
• Arrived in Sweden in 1650.
• It is documented that Picolet painted a series of paintings for Jacob de la Gardie in 1650.
• He started working for him on 29 April 1651 and was paid on 30 September for the remaining paintings, including portraits of Jacob de la Gardie and of his daughter, a series of six life-size pieces, a painting of the little dog of the countess and 'der Jongen graffe pontus sijn kont'.
• On 3 April 1657 his daughter Cornelia was baptized.
• Returned to Rotterdam, and from 28 April 1673 onwards he had permission to be the skipper of the ferry from Rotterdam to Delft, which he was until his death in 1679.• Died in Rotterdam at the end of February 1679, buried 2 March 1679.
