Martin von Molitor (1759–1812)

• Was an Austrian painter. 
• Molitor was a student of Johann Christian Brand in Vienna.
• As a member of the academy (since 1784) – he turned down the offer of a professorship in 1795.
• Jakob Gauermann accompanied him as a drawing assistant on a trip to Tyrol on behalf of the creation of landscape vedutas.
• His landscape gives the impression of austerity, yet looks natural.
• The largest watercolor collection by Molitors can be found in the Albertina.
