Jacob Fransz. van der Merck (Born: c.1610; Died: 1664)

• Was a Dutch painter.
• Born in Gravendeel.

• He began his training in Delft from 1628 until 1631.

• Left Delft in 1631 and is recorded as a member of the Saint Luke`s Guild in the Hague in 1636 until 1640.

• From 1640-1649 he was a member of the guild in Dordrecht.
• Back in the Hague he married Geertruyt Jacobsdr. Schaaphuijsen.

• In 1658 Merck moved to Leiden where he remain for the rest of  his life.

• Merck`s paintings are seen in the museums of Amsterdam, Berlin, Boston, Haarlem, The Hague, Kiev, Leiden, Oldenburg, and Utrecht.
