• Was an Italian painter.
• His area of interest included invention, drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, paleontology, and cartography.
• Leonardo was educated in Florence by the renowned Italian painter and sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio.
• He began his career in Milan, also he worked in Florence and Milan again, as well as briefly in Rome.
• Leonardo was a contemporary of Botticelli, Ghirlandaio and Perugino, who were all slightly older than he was.
• Only 15 of his paintings having survived.
