Pieter Jochums Lofvers (1712 – 1788)

• Was a Dutch painter and sculptor.
• Lofvers was baptized in the Nieuwe Kerk as the son of Jochum Peters and Hillichjen Ottens.
• He learned the art of painting from Jan Abel Wassenbergh.
• Lofvers had his own studio where he worked as a leaver, he painted furniture including seascapes.
• Pieter Lofvers spent his whole career in Groningen.
• He married Fennegyn Hendriks with whom he had six children.
• He was asked to gild parts of the church organ in the Martinikerk. 
• Lofvers was also a wallpaper painter, his wallpaper factory - for which he received a patent in 1738.
• His son Hendrick was a painter of marines, landscapes, portraits and still lifes.
