Pieter Matthias Goddyn (1752-1811)

• Was a South Netherlandish painter.

• He was born in Brugge.

• He was christened in the Church of Our Lady, godparents Frans Pepers and Francoise Breukels, the wife of Peter Goddyn.

• He was son of Eugène Goddyn, master mason, and Marie Pepers.

• His Education was at Stedelijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten (Brugge).

• He remained single all his life.

• He engraved his own paintings.

• Pieter Matthias Goddyn was active in Rome, Parma, Brugge and Paris.
