Pedro García de Benavarre (1445–1485)

• Spanish painter representative of the Hispano-Flemish style.
• He worked in Aragon and Catalonia.
• The first known information about him places him in Zaragoza (1445-1447) signing as a witness in documents relating to the painter Blasco de Grañén, who may have been his teacher.
• In 1452 he was in Benabarre, his hometown.
• In November 1455 he signed a company contract with the widow of Bernat Martorell and his son Bernat for five years, counted from 1st January 1456.
• By this contract, the painter from Huesca undertook to finish the works begun by Martorell outside Barcelona and to execute new ones that were commissioned to them.
• From September 1460 to 1469 it is documented in Benabarre.
• It is recorded that in 1473 he was in Lleida, but before that he had already carried out works for that city.
• He lived between Benabarre and Lleida during 1460-1480.
• On an unspecified date he settled in Barbastro, where he is documented between May 1481 and September 1483.
