Manuel de la Cruz Vázquez (1750–1792)
• Was a Spanish painter.
• He was born and died in Madrid.
• He distinguished himself by his pictures in the cathedral of Carthagena and in the monastery of San Francisco el Grande at Madrid.
• He also etched a few plates of heads of strongly marked character.
• A student at the Academy of San Fernando since 1767, he held the position of court painter to the Infante Don Luis de Borbón, brother of Charles III, until 1785.
• In 1789 he was appointed academician of merit at the Madrid institution.
• He made views of the port of Cartagena (National Heritage and private collection) and participated in the set of altarpieces commissioned by Charles III for the decoration of the church of San Francisco el Grande in Madrid.
• His cousin was Juan de la Cruz Cano y Olmedilla.
