• Known as Cavalier Perugino was an Italian painter.
• In Perugia he was a disciple of a local artist, Domenico Scaramuccia.
• According to what Lione Pascoli wrote in 1736, Cerrini trained in the Roman workshop of
Guido Reni.
• Thanks to the relationships he had with the major exponents of the Spada family, first of all Cardinal Bernardino, the artist obtained some of the major artistic commissions in the thirties and forties of the sixteenth century, working for the major Roman families.
• He came into contact with Giulio Rospigliosi, the future Pope Clement IX, and probably received from the latter the commission for the decoration of the dome of Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome, built between 1654 and 1655.
• In 1656 the artist moved to Florence to the Medici court until 1661, creating numerous classicist works.
